Biography
Hassan Ali Khaire was born on April 15, 1968 in Somalia, in the central region. He spent part of his early childhood in Mogadishu. As a young man, he became a refugee and moved to Norway in 1991, where he lived for many years and completed his higher education. He graduated from the University of Oslo with a degree in political science. He later earned an MBA from Heriot-Watt University. He began his professional career working with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), where he rose to senior leadership positions, including Regional Director for the Horn of Africa. He also worked in the oil and gas sector with Soma Oil and Gas. In 2017, he was appointed Prime Minister of Somalia by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo. He served as Prime Minister from March 1, 2017 until July 25, 2020, when the Somali Parliament passed a vote of no confidence. During his time in office, he focused on government reforms, security improvements, and anti-corruption efforts, although his tenure was marked by political disagreements that eventually led to his departure from office.
